Supports for Launching Your Floreo Program

Written by Rita Solórzano | June 18, 2025

Over the past several years, Floreo has gathered and cultivated a variety of resources to support our users' successful launch of virtual reality-assisted learning. When something is as  novel as VR, it can be difficult to know where to start in order to ensure optimal success. To help with that, we have developed resources we felt might benefit our users. A wealth of information can be found here: Floreo's Knowledge Base. Here are some of the supports you can find on this page.

Collect the Equipment and Set Up the Environment: This list of considerations is a preliminary list that can help you determine what you want to keep on hand during a VR session and where you want to set up your VR space. Additionally, the Daily Checklist, which can be found at the bottom of this page, under the category "Written Supporting Documents", can provide reminders to the Coach running the daily VR session.

Other items you might want to have on hand include:

  • sanitizing wipes for the rims of the goggles, so you can clean the goggles between users. It is not advisable to use these wipes on the lenses.
  • masking tape (if you are using a headset that requires you to establish a boundary) to mark the area where the chair should stay to maintain that boundary.

Preparing Learners for VR: We have 2 resources that can be used with Learners who are new to VR. Staying Safe While in VR is a text-based resource that explains what Learners can expect when using VR goggles and what they should watch out for. This text can be used with teen and adult Learners who have enough language comprehension to understand the content of the text. For children and for those with more limited language comprehension, consider using the Floreo Comic Book (which can be found here, under "Visual Supports") for this same purpose.

Additional Visual Supports: If you continue to look under the "Visual Supports" category on  this page, you will find pictures and photographs to help non-speaking individuals or minimally speaking individuals communicate about how they are feeling before and after their VR sessions:

  • Checking in with your Learner before VR: visuals for 1) Young and Early Learners; 2) Adolescent and Young Adult Learners; and 3) Adult Learners.
  • Checking in with your Learner after VR: visuals for 1) Young and Early Learners; 2) Adolescent and Young Adult Learners; and 3) Adult Learners.

Since these pictures may be new to some of these individuals, additional teaching may be needed to ensure that your Learners understand the meaning behind the representations.

Other Downloadable PDFs on this page under the category, "Written Supporting Documents" include:

  • Floreo Lesson Library at a Glance
  • Teletherapy Instructions: These instructions include best practices for TeleVR.
  • Parental Release: We have provided text that can be used as a template in case you plan to obtain parent/guardian permission to use Floreo with your Learners. We have a version of this text in English and in Spanish. It can be copied to your letterhead and edited as needed.
  • The IEP Resource Guide: with information on how to integrate Floreo into an IEP.

We hope that you find these resources helpful. As Floreo evolves, so will these supports. Please let us know if there is a resource you would find helpful that we can add to this page.
