Spotlight on: Floreo's intern, Aaron Jean-Francois

Earlier this year, we were approached by Tech Kids Unlimited, a company that helps connect neurodiverse students with internships at technology companies. TKU offered us the opportunity to host a remote internship for 5 weeks over the summer. We jumped at the chance and, after identifying some areas of impact for Floreo, we were connected with our wonderful intern: Aaron Jean-Francois. Aaron (preferred pronouns: he/they), who is autistic, is a rising sophomore at Brooklyn College and began work with us in July.

Aaron is studying to be a math teacher, and has a skillset which proved very useful for creating some “how to” videos for Floreo! Aaron’s first step was to get familiar with the system. After playing more than 100 lessons in a very short time, he determined that he was ready to start educating our customers. As a culmination to 5 weeks of work, Aaron created two videos: how to create an account and get set up to use Floreo and how to pair your devices to begin a lesson. These are two of the biggest hurdles for folks who are just starting with Floreo and we know these videos will make a huge difference for our onboarding customers!

Additionally, Aaron completed a research project to help identify thought leaders and influencers who can help spread the word about Floreo. We are grateful to Aaron for sharing his perspective, insight, and helpful suggestions.

The 5 week internship has flown by, and the entire Floreo team has enjoyed working with and getting to know Aaron! We will miss discussing the show Never Have I Ever (Aaron is Team Paxton all the way!) and hearing about his summer travels. We wish him the best of luck as he starts  school this fall and beyond. Thank you to Aaron and Tech Kids Unlimited for the opportunity!
