Brings deep experience in behavioral health integration, collaborative care, and the interface between technology and behavioral healthcare delivery

WASHINGTON D.C. (July 20, 2023): Floreo, a leading virtual reality (VR) behavioral therapy company, has appointed Dr. Varun Choudhary as Chief Medical Officer. In his new role, Dr. Choudhary will serve as the clinical leader and oversee clinical research-based validation activities and medical affairs.  He has 20 years of experience, previously held a similar role at Talkspace, and was SVP Behavioral Health Chief Medical Officer at Magellan Health. Dr. Choudhary also spent several years in private practice as a psychiatrist.

“Varun brings tremendous experience to Floreo and our clients based on his diverse and extensive background as a leader at the intersection of technology and behavioral healthcare delivery,” said Vijay Ravindran, Floreo’s Founder & CEO. “We look forward to benefiting from Varun’s insights and leadership,” added Mr. Ravindran.

“I am thrilled to join Floreo, particularly as the adoption of the company’s technology continues to accelerate,” said Dr. Choudhary. “After spending nearly two decades as a practicing medical provider as well as with a number of innovative health technology companies, I am energized to be part of Floreo’s mission,” added Dr. Choudhary.

Since its founding in 2016, Floreo has developed and deployed its pioneering VR system with scores of providers, including ABA practitioners, public and private school systems, vocational education programs, and healthcare systems. The company also played an important role in the establishment of Category III Current Procedural Terminology Code (CPT) from the American Medical Association for the use of VR technology to assist with therapy. The CPT III code (0770T) went into effect in January 2023, allowing qualified healthcare professionals to report their use of VR as part of therapy as a practice expense.
