We are proud to announce the release of our latest Police Encounters lessons. You may have tried the Police Encounter experiences that we have had in the app for awhile now (these are the lessons we first developed with our partners at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Center for Autism Research as part of phase I of our NIH grant). Our recent release takes things a step further:
Coaches can customize the difficulty of the lesson, select from a number of targeted behaviors to practice, and change the language the police officer uses based on whether the Learner is an adult or a minor. It’s a “choose your own adventure” lesson, Floreo-style!
These latest lessons also take things up a notch as far as police officer behavior: if the Learner does not reply to the police officer in a way that might be expected, the police officer gets increasingly frustrated as they might in a real-life situation. The lessons in this module provide a safe, repeatable environment where the Learner practices interacting with officers.
Police Encounter: Multi-lesson
Who it is for: Learners of all ages
What’s new: Help the Learner determine the best way to respond to questions posed by the police officers.
Consider using in combination with: one of Floreo’s “Mindful Thinking” lessons so that your Learner can access some calming strategies when the police officer approaches.
