Floreo's Director of Therapy Content, Marsha Stepensky, MS.Ed, BCBA, recently spent some time on Capitol Hill alongside other leaders from the autism community. The group had the opportunity to meet with the offices of Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton (DC), Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD), Sen. Angela Alsobrooks (MD), and Senator Chris Van Hollen (MD).

Marsha reflected on the experience: "It was a powerful day of advocacy, focused on ensuring our legislators prioritize the needs of the autism community - from expanding access to care to supporting the workforce that makes it all possible. It’s an honor to represent our mission at the federal level and be a part of these important conversations happening in the halls of Congress."

In recognition of Autism Acceptance Month, this kind of advocacy is especially meaningful. It’s a time to elevate autistic voices, promote understanding and inclusion, and push for policies that improve access to care, education, and support services.

Using Floreo in your clinic, school, or home

Floreo's Director of Applied Digital Therapy, Rita Solórzano MA, CCC-SLP, is a Speech Language Pathologist with over 30 years of experience.

Floreo lessons were originally designed to work with a single Learner wearing a VR headset and a Coach, who can see what is visible in the VR headset, and can help the Learner navigate the situation; however, many teachers have been able to adapt the Floreo system in their classrooms by displaying the VR lesson on a larger screen and including other students in the class. While the other students observe the Learner's view in VR, they can learn from their peers and then take turns with the headset. Classrooms with access to an interactive whiteboard (such as a SMART Board or a Promethean Board) have additional tools that can be used while implementing Floreo.
