Floreo began with a deeply personal moment.
Founder and CEO Vijay Ravindran was exploring virtual reality with his son, who is on the autism spectrum. Then, something unexpected happened: his son began exhibiting new behaviors and engaging in imaginative play.
That moment sparked a realization:
What if virtual reality could be used as a tool to teach real-world skills?
From there, Floreo was born.
Founded in 2016, Floreo set out to create a new kind of learning platform: one where individuals could safely practice social, communication, and life skills in immersive environments that are hard to replicate in everyday life.
Traditional learning methods can teach foundational skills, but practicing real-world situations (like conversations, safety scenarios, or workplace interactions) is often difficult, inconsistent, or stressful.
Floreo's idea is simple but powerful: Use VR to create safe, repeatable practice for real-life moments.
What started as a personal solution quickly grew into a broader mission:
- A VR platform used by schools, therapists, and families
- A library of lessons designed to teach social, behavioral, and life skills
- A tool built specifically for neurodiverse learners
- A system that blends technology + human coaching
- A truly research-backed capability with FDA Breakthrough Device Designation and 5 randomized controlled trials completed
Today, Floreo helps thousands of learners practice skills in a way that is engaging, accessible, and transferable to real life.
At its core, Floreo isn’t just about technology. It’s about expanding access, confidence, and independence.
It all started with one child’s moment of connection and a parent asking, “How can we make this possible for more people?”
