New Floreo lesson addresses water safety

By Heather | Oct 10, 2024

Did you know that autistic children are 160 times more likely to face a risk of drowning (source: National Drowning Prevention Alliance)? We are proud to announce the latest release of Floreo now includes our first in a new ongoing series of water safety lessons! This foundational lesson covers key topics such as safe behaviors around water, the critical role of adult supervision, and the importance of flotation devices. Designed as an introductory guide, this lesson sets the stage for a series of water safety lessons that will build on these concepts. Let's work together to prevent these outcomes and make a meaningful impact. Click below to watch a short preview.

Floreo Costume Contest

SHOW OFF YOUR BEST LOOK!

We’re excited to kick off our first-ever Halloween Costume Contest! Last year, our friends at Abbey Neuropsychology Clinic dressed up as Alejandro, Ayanna, and Myra, and it was fantastic. Now, we invite you all to dress up as your favorite Floreo characters (including Floreo animals!) or share any cool or spooky costumes you have. To enter, submit a photo of your costume by Oct 31 to info@floreovr.com. The winner will receive a Floreo-related prize!

Paid research opportunity

FOR PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS

A major non-profit is sponsoring a series of interviews with South Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander parents and caregivers of children who have been professionally diagnosed with autism or autism spectrum disorder. The study's overall objective is to explore perceptions of research studies investigating autism.

These interviews are led by a professional research moderator from the AAPI community. The sessions are confidential, only first names are used. These one-hour interviews will be held from September 30 through October 6, over Zoom. Sessions are scheduled based on your availability. Participants will receive $150 in compensation for their time.

For Clinics

USING THE CPT III CODE 0770T

If your clinic is not already using the Floreo-sponsored CPT III code for virtual reality-assisted therapy (code 0770T), you should be! Not only can you be reimbursed for sessions in which you use Floreo, but you are also helping us pave the way to a CPT I code. If you have questions about using the code, please reach out and we will help to support your submissions using it!

Listen to Floreo's Founder/CEO, Vijay Ravindran, discuss why it is so important to start adding 0770T to your billing process!

Attention Medicaid Families

FLOREO SUBSCRIPTIONS MAY BE COVERED

Did you know that Floreo has programs in place with several state waivers? These programs, like the Children's Long Term Support waiver in Wisconsin, or the MAPS program in Tennesee will pay for a Floreo subscription and equipment rental for participating families. We have also had success with families in other states using self-directed funds or funds for assistive technology to purchase a Floreo subscription.

The best place to start is with your family's service coordinator. Chat with them to see if they can help get a Floreo subscription in place. And if they have any questions, we're always happy to help!

Funding ideas

HOW CAN WE HELP YOU GAIN FUNDING FOR FLOREO?

We know that budgets can be tight, and we want to help get Floreo into the hands of anyone who needs it! Please let us know if you need help writing up your DonorsChoose application or with information for a grant you have identified. This is a great resource to find available grants.

IDEA and Title I funds are also great sources to help you access a Floreo subscription.
