Finding the Right Emotional Regulation Lessons in Floreo

By Rita Solórzano | Jan 28, 2026

Floreo lessons cover a broad range of emotional regulation learning experiences. Many of these are wonderful for introducing individuals to VR. We have VR spaces where the Learner is transported to a calming environment that can minimize or focus the visual and auditory sensory input. Other lessons introduce light interactivity. Additionally, Floreo has lessons that provide verbal and visual guidance on self-reflection and relaxation. Here is a breakdown of all the different types of experiences in the emotional regulation category in the Floreo library.

Mostly Passive VR Experiences for ‘chilling out’ or alerting:

  • Hang Out in the Aquarium - The Learner sits in a bright underwater aquarium, and can sense the swaying of the seaweed, the treasure chest opening and closing, and the bubbles rising to the surface.
  • Snowfall - The Learner sits in a forest setting with light snow falling all around. The sky is a bit dark, much like when it is snowing. For some extra relaxation, your Learners might enjoy lying down and watching the snow fall directly on them.

Mildly Interactive VR Experiences for ‘chilling out’ or alerting:

  • Watch the Train -The Learner watches the train as it travels around the track. The train moves 360 degrees around the Learner; they will need to turn to see the full train trip.
  • Play the Marimba - The Learner is encircled by a large marimba. When the Learner looks at it, the keys light up and play a sound.
  • Find the Fish - The Learner sits in an aquarium. When gaze is fixated on a fish, a gentle tune plays.
  •  Calming Reminders in the Crystal Cave - This lesson places the Learner on a dock in the crystal cave next to a waterfall.  Periodically, the crystals begin to sparkle, and the Learner is instructed, via VoiceOver, to find the crystals that are sparkling. When gaze is fixated on the crystal, a voiceover delivers a soothing message, such as “Go with the Flow”.

Breathing and Body Awareness Activities:

  • Breathing Train - The Learner follows a simple breathing routine after which the Coach can activate a train as it travels around the track.
  • Crystal Cave - This lesson contains gentle movement as the Learner moves in a boat through a cave. Instructions for body awareness are fairly simple (e.g., lift and lower your shoulders); but the Coach can adjust the language for the Learner.
  • Yoga Poses - This lesson includes a yoga instructor model and describes the steps of the yoga posture.
  • Peaceful Painting - The lesson provides the Learner with a fun activity. The Learner rates their physical state before and after the VR experience.

The following lessons focus on breathing and body awareness, but use more sophisticated language.

  • Guided Meditation: Sitting in the Snowfall - The Learner hears a VoiceOver that guides Learners to attend to and relax their head down to their feet. Their attention is also brought to the calming effects of the snowfall.
  • Guided Meditation: Sitting in the Aquarium - The Learner hears a slightly different VoiceOver. It still walks the Learner through a body scan, but brings their attention to the soothing effects of the water.
  • Guided Focus for Body Relaxation - This lesson also uses VoiceOver for the instructions. The Learner is in a boat that moves through the cave (similar to the lesson, “Crystal Cave” described above). The instructions in this lesson contain more specific language and may be more suitable for teens and adults. For example, the Learner is instructed to “Breathe in through your nose and mouth. Fill your belly and hold for 5 seconds.”

Other lessons in the Floreo library may also provide some calming or alerting spaces. If this is your focus with Floreo, also consider the cause-and-effect lesson "Meet the Animals" or one of the many nature-based lessons in the Receptive Language category. Please check the accessibility requirements in the Coach view on the browser and avoid lessons that include movement when introducing virtual reality.
